Free Asthma Allergy Camps

To conduct free asthma camps and distribute essential medications.

IAS has been conducting FREE asthma-allergy awareness camps since 1987. These are day camps where an average of 100 patients are evaluated and educated on a daily basis.  Such camps have been facilitated in cooperation with several service organizations like Rotary clubs, Lions clubs, hospitals, schools, churches, Philanthropic families, and private clinics in different parts of the world. More than 300 camps have been conducted and several students of Dr. PK are continuing his example. Around 42,000 patients have been served so far by our volunteers around the globe.

Locations of these camps  are all over India (11 states), Kenya, Mauritius, Myanmar, Philippines, Argentina, Fiji, USA, Saratov Russia.

There are more locations being requested.

Education and Transfer of Technology

To transfer educational materials and technology to needy communities in various countries.

IAS has been educating health professionals since inception.  Several hundred CMEs have been conducted in different locations of the globe, the first formal training program being the Diploma Allergy & Asthma (DAA)  in allergy & asthma was initiated at Christian Medical College-Hospital in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India in 2006.  Through this program a 1-year long-distance education and training program that utilizes the expertise from local, national and international faculty is continuing to be offered.  Students hail from all parts of India, as well as neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Kenya, Rwanda, Indonesia, and even distant places in USA and Canada. To date, 220 doctors have graduated and this number continues to grow.

IAS has been conducting 3-5 day intensive courses at University of Nairobi, Kenya; Myanmar (2014); and, Medical University of Saratov, Russia (2012).

Some of the  Courses are endorsed by AAAAI, as well as by the Center for Global Health, University of Colorado, Denver, Colorado, USA.

Additionally,  IAS has equipped several respiratory ICUs in India and Kenya, as well as established Respiratory centers with modern equipment in: Saratov, Russia; Nairobi, Kenya;  Mauritius; Fiji; and, several parts of India. This has enabled the health professionals to objectively evaluate the patients, as well as conduct research studies.

Environmental Improvements

To improve the quality of the air we breathe and the soil on which we live.

IAS recognizes the dire need to address the health of our air and the environment in which we live and partake our daily lives.  With the adoption of Saahns as the brand's name, an Urdu and Hindi word meaning Breath, IAS recognizes that maintaining a healthy relationship with our environment enhances the quality of breathing for all.  This supports the efforts of our medical professionals.

Supporting Research & Developments

To serve the needy asthmatics in different parts of the world.

IAS has offered Free medications, educational materials as well as conducted public awareness talks through media (TV, Newspapers, books, and pamphlets). All of these efforts are to increase the level of awareness of these common ailments. The latest move has been the formation of the Allergy-Asthma Network of India (AANI) (www.aani.in), a huge network of nearly 200 physicians who have all been trained by IAS at CMC, Vellore. These trained physicians carry the ideals of IAS and put them into practice in their communities.

Our Commitment

Bronchial asthma is a worldwide problem affecting hundreds of millions of individuals, both adults and children.  The World Health Organization reports that in 2019 alone, an estimated 262 million people were affected by asthma which also caused 455,000 deaths, and these numbers continue to grow.  Additionally, asthma is the most common cause of chronic disease among children, and is often under-diagnosed and under-treated in low- and middle-income countries.  These conditions result in a very high degree of morbidity, loss of man-hours and school hours, and loss of millions of dollars every year.  The morbidity due to asthma has been steadily increasing worldwide over the past decades, and there are several reasons of this rise in mortality.

Our commitment is to counter this dangerous trend by improving access to proper care for more people worldwide.  We work towards achieving our commitment by: 1. Improving access to top-notch medical education for physicians, who in turn provide enhanced care and professional treatment to their patients; 2. Providing free and high-quality medical testing and care through our patented PRAANA charitable clinics; and 3. Supporting research and development to raise public awareness, as well as to improve professional training and technological applications.
Saahns means Breath in Urdu and Hindi, and we focus on improving breathing.
